Seven years ago today...

We got the call that finally made us parents! Today is the anniversary of the referral call for Jacob. I will never forget when Todd told me about our baby boy and how my knees went weak and I wept with joy.

Here's the very first picture we saw of our son. We fell in love instantly. :)

Lunar New Year....

Monday starts the very popular Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year. So, happy Chinese/Lunar New Year!! For Taiwan, which is culturally part of China, they will most likely be off for vacation for about two weeks. We can quit jumping everytime for the phone rings...for two weeks anyway. :)

Is it a bad sign when...

So today we had our homestudy update visit. Luckily, we've developed a good relationship with our social worker. We truly like her, and hope she feels the same about us.

So...we're in the middle of our visit when Sara leans over my lap and proceeds to vomit repeatedly until her poor, little belly is completely drained of everything in it. I feel so bad for her...she must have the same stomach flu Todd had last weekend. She had vomited twice more since then, and is not eating anything. Say a prayer for my girl if you can.

Our social worker handled it well, but now I'm wondering what our update will say. Perfectly healthy family, um, mostly.

Such Fun...

I figured out how to change my blog wallpaper. :) What fun! Now, I just need to learn how to customize my own header and I'll be just CRAZY! Do I know how to live, or what? :)

There was another girl referral for our agency!! This means we're NUMBER TWO!!! I'm so excited I can't even stand it!

Even More Good News!

Yesterday, a Gladney family in my "group" got a girl referral!! This is the first one of the families that signed up in 2008! She's absolutely beautiful too! Congrats to Julie and family!

I think this puts us around number 3 for a girl referral! How exciting!

Finally, An Update

Our caseworker from Gladney just called and asked us to update our homestudy. She said we're getting close and she expects us to get a referral in the next month or two!! WOOHOO!! I'm SO excited! So, homestudy update, here we come. It's times like these that I don't mind doing paperwork one bit.

Otherwise, it's been pretty quiet around here. We're getting blasted with snow on a continual basis, it seems, here in the frigid north. In fact, the kids had another snow day today. Lots of snow, blowing, drifting and COLD temperatures with sub-zero windchills. Not at all fun.

As of yesterday, I'm back to school as well, working little by little on my social work degree. This semester I'm finishing up my internship, which has been a fabulous learning experience, and I'm taking two courses: Human biology and social work interviewing skills. Should be an interesting semester.

Jake and Sara have been healthy and happy. Todd's been VERY busy with work, which is a huge blessing since he works for an automotive supplier. Life is good! Thanks for checking in with us. :)
