Moomers Season Begins!

We have a wonderful ice cream shop here called Moomers. It's right on the farm, and they make the ice cream themselves. There are usually cows in the field behind the kids. It's a very popular destination in our little tourist town, and the kids love to go.

Furry cuteness...

These are our two baby cats, Oliver (the grey one) and Sophie (the black/brown one). They are good buds. :)

Update from caseworker...

Our caseworker emailed me this morning to tell me that the program director for Taiwan has given us an estimate of 6 to 9 months for referral, starting with our approval date, which they have as 3/31/08.

So, hopefully, if all goes well, we'll see our new daughter's face by Christmas! Yay!

About Sara

When Jacob was 15 months old, we started the process to adopt again. We wanted a girl to complete (yes, we thought we were done with two, never say never!) our family. We submitted our paperwork to adopt through Commonwealth again through the same orphanage. We knew Sara's wait would be a longer one, and it was...17 months from the time our dossier was in Colombia until we got "the call."

Our daughter, Sara (her birthname) was born on 9/14/04 at a healthy 7+ pounds. She was just 8 weeks old when we got her referral call, and 10 weeks old when she was placed into our arms on 11/22/04. We added Rose to her name, as a name we both love, and a middle name she shares with her Grandma Newman.

Jacob accompanied us on this trip to Colombia and it was a wonderful trip. Sara, still being very new, was happy sleeping and eating. The ladies at the orphanage remembered Jake and enjoyed seeing him again.

Sara is now 3 and a half and is a delightful, funny, independent child. She is very dramatic and makes us laugh often. She can be fiercely strong-willed one moment, and full of love, hugs and kisses the next. Sara might be a bit annoyed with a new sister, but for now, she's very excited. We love you Sara!

About Jacob

Thought I'd give some information on how our family came to be! :)

We signed up with Commonwealth adoptions Colombian program in November 2000. After mounds of paperwork, we were put on the wait list for an orphanage called La Casita de Nicolas in March 2001. We were told the wait would be about 3-6 months, so what ended up being a 10 month wait was excruciatingly long.

We got the call (well, actually Todd got the call) on January 30, 2002. We had a son! Jairo was born on September 22, 2001, at 32 weeks gestation, weighing just under 4 lbs. He was progressing perfectly, and was now a lively, healthy boy of 10 lbs at 4 months old. We renamed him Jacob Jairo (Jairo being his birthname) and flew down to Medellin, Colombia on February 15th. On February 18th, he was placed into our arms.

Jake has been a lively, energetic boy right from the beginning. He is full of enthusiasm and eager to try new experiences. He is currently in Kindergarten and is doing great. He loves his little sister Sara and can't wait for his new sister! In fact, Jake helped us decide to adopt from Taiwan! We love you Jacob!
