Home for 5 days

Hello all! It seems I'm one of those bad bloggers that returns home and doesn't find the time to post! Ack!

We've been home for five days and things are slowly improving. The jet lag still lingers...man do NOT underestimate that wicked beast!! :)

Tessa is doing well. We went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup. She weighs 15 lbs. 9 oz and is 27" long. She's quite a bit longer than her last check up at TWCA.

We asked about her head symmetry (it's a bit off, an abnormality on her skull) so I took her for a cat scan today. That was hard, but we got it done. Then the doc ordered blood tests too and we tried to get that but the nurses could NOT find a vein. Poor girl. I had Tessa, Jake and Sara all crying at once. Phew.

Then, on Monday she goes in for an echocardiogram to check on her heart. Seems she has a heart murmur they want to check out. I'm not too worried, as Sara had this too and all was well with her.

Sara is adjusting to being a big sister better than I had anticipated. Of course, she's a bit sad that she's been knocked out of her position as the baby of the family, but who could blame her? Jacob is doing absolutely wonderfully. When she cries, he goes to her and gets her to quiet down for me if I can't get right there. He is sweet, sweet, sweet to her.

Hopefully, one of these days I'll feel confident in my position as a mother of three. Right now, I'm just winging it. :) Luckily, Tessa is very patient with me. She continues to bond very well and definitely knows me. She is sleeping well at night, but her naps could be better...hopefully that will come with time.

I'll try to post pictures next time...I'm fresh out of energy right now!! Thanks for your love and support and this crazy journey to Taiwan...complete with Typhoon Morakot!

Keep us up to date on the test results. I'm sure everything will be fine too. :) I can tell the kids are very sweet to her from the pictures. :)

Wanted to make a mini introduction as we are a family starting the journey of adopting a baby from TWCA w/ Gladney. I'm also Michelle, have just started a blog, http://ourtaiwanbundleofjoy.blogspot.com/
but have followed your journey for a couple of months. I am a mother of 3 (ages (B)16, (B)14, (G)10 and just wanted to share with you, although not through adoption, how our 3rd child's arrival really made a major shift in our dynamics as a family. A friend whom already had 3 told me shortly after I became a mother of 3 that it takes you from a couple with each having arms for a child to a couple without enough hands but a growing heart. I just wanted to say the challenges are altogether worth it. My joy at being the mother to our 3 has brought me to the point that as my first is almost ready to depart for college I want to still have years ahead of parenting so we are starting again and thus adopting a baby. Your children are all beautiful and congrats on your new baby girl!I'm hoping all test turn out well, I too had a childhood heart murmur, but at mid-forty have not had docs detect it in yrs. Only time it has been an issue is when dental work - just a few extra steps for security - antibiotics. Keep well!

So glad you are adjusting and getting caught up! So happy to hear Sara and Jake are doing so wonderful with Tessa! Of course it is an adjustment for you all, but I am sure you are taking on the role of "Mom of three" just wonderfully! - Your probably just too tired to notice!
Keep us posted (when you get a chance!)

Hang in there Michelle! It is hard getting used to 3, unpacking, doc appointments, slep issues and all the other stuff. Don't put additional pressure on yourself to be supper mom.

It sounds like life is starting to come together for the new normal. Going form 2-3 kids is a big adjustment. You are doing great. You have so much love for all your children and that is what really matters.

Hey Michelle,
Hasnt life been crazy? I am bummed we didnt get together. Sorry about the email and the hotel not taking a message- When you get time email me and let's talk. Paige isnt napping well at all, but I am starting to feel a little better with sleep and jet lag. We have been running around already and it is very tiring. I didnt take her to the dr. yet- next week and I am a little nervous based on your experience. Was there anything in her referral info that would indicate any of that? Paige does not like to eat at all and that has me a bit worried. Ok so give your little one a big hug.
LOL

I am glad you are all home safe and sound- if tired and exhausted, but in a good way. Jacob and Sara look positively elated as big brother and sister. Get rest when you can and enjoy little Tessa with all your heart.

I think we all kind of "wing it" for a long time. Some days I feel like I am still winging it. I feel you though. When we came home with Mia and Kyan, Haley had only been home for 7 months. Man, I had no clue what I was doing and was so tired and overwhelmed (3 kids, 3 and under). I remember leaving the house the first time with all 3, it took us 2 1/2 hours to get ready to go! You will find your rhythm, we did, it just takes time. No one expects you to be super-mom, then we would have to hate you:)
